Our Vision

ONE NORTH END: Where the Vision is in the Name

One North End began as a grassroots community engagement initiative — a direct action following a 2015 CBC News Article describing Halifax as a city with two North Ends. The article inspired community-led conversations about gentrification and the “ongoing issues” of systemic racism and multi-generational poverty. The impact of these issues on African Nova Scotia youth continues today. Over the past seven years, the ONE team has worked closely with community collaborators - youth, parents, homeowners, elders, businesses, and non-profits - in the North End of Halifax and beyond.

The One North End (ONE) Community Economic Development Society collaborates with communities, businesses, corporations, non-profits, government, and academia to identify high-demand sectors.

As a result, we build capacity within those sectors to support vulnerable populations to actively develop career paths and entrepreneurs through collective impact strategies that lead to co-created initiatives.
